Gen Z and the Rise of Augmented Curiosity in L&D
In a rapidly evolving digital world, Learning and Development (L&D) must shift from content delivery to curiosity farming especially for Gen Z, a generation defined by their demand for autonomy, relevance, and technological integration. This paper introduces the Augmented Curiosity Framework, a new model that blends immersive technologies, peer-based learning, and agile strategies to redesign L&D as a continuous, personalized experience. Drawing on current research, field-tested tools, and Gen Z's learning behaviors, the framework incorporates three core pillars: AR-powered Just-in-Time Discovery, Challenge-Based Micro Journeys, and Agile Learning Sprints. These are supported by soft skill development tools and lightweight learning analytics to enhance reflection, feedback, and self-regulation. The paper argues that curiosity is not a passive trait but an active skill one that can be nurtured at scale with the right blend of AI, human-centered design, and reflective practice. By embedding curiosity into the flow of work, this approach positions L&D as a strategic enabler of innovation, adaptability, and lifelong learning in Gen Z-driven workplaces.
