Dual‐function coordination polymers for fluorescence sensing and efficient adsorptive removal of Rhodamine B
To address the growing challenge of dye pollution, two Ni(II)-based coordination polymers, [Ni(HL)(phen)(H2O)]n (CP1) and [Ni2(HL)2(phen)4·2(H2O)]n (CP2), were synthesized using 4-[(1-carboxynaphthalen-2-yl)oxy]phthalic acid and 1,10-phenanthroline under different solvent systems. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction revealed that CP1 forms a 1-D chain structure, while CP2 adopts a 2-D layered framework. Both complexes exhibit good crystallinity and thermal stability. Nitrogen adsorption analyses showed that CP2 possesses a higher surface area and pore volume. In Rhodamine B (RhB) adsorption studies, CP2 achieved 90% removal within 120 min, surpassing CP1 (70%) due to its more open architecture and abundant active sites. This work demonstrates the significance of solvent-controlled assembly in tuning coordination polymer structures and highlights their potential as efficient adsorbents for dye wastewater treatment.
