<b><i>Decoherence Revisited: Revised Decoherence Timescales in Microtubules Under Physiological Conditions</i></b>
We revisit Tegmark’s 2000 calculations of microtubule decoherence timescales, incorporating 37 years of experimental and theoretical advances. Accounting for (1) topological protection in tubulin lattices, (2) non-Markovian cytoplasmic dynamics, and (3) quantum error correction via microtubule-associated proteins, we find coherence times (T₂) of 10−4–10−3 seconds at 310 K—sufficient for biological information processing. This reconciles Orch-OR theory with decoherence physics.
