Evaluating the Usefulness of Foresight in an Asian Context
This study examines the value of foresight in addressing complex problems within an Asian context. A qualitative approach, involving case studies, community scans, and expert insights, is taken to investigate how foresight practices can mitigate complex challenges such as climate change, educational inequality, and food shortages. Findings indicate that foresight facilitates collaboration, enhances adaptive capacity, and promotes innovative thinking. However, its effectiveness can be hindered by limited mainstream adoption and resource intensity. The study proposes strategies to improve the integration of foresight with other tools and emphasizes the need for broader stakeholder engagement to enhance its impact. By synthesizing empirical data and theoretical frameworks, this study highlights the potential of foresight as a transformative tool for navigating complexity. It offers actionable recommendations for Asian policymakers and practitioners to strengthen its application in tackling urgent challenges.
