Jasmine Rice 105 from Alinda Garden: A Model of High-Quality Organic Cultivation and Sharing in the Buddharaksa Moral Community

Jasmine Rice 105 (Khao Dawk Mali 105 or KDML105) is Thailand’s most iconic fragrant rice, widely recognized both domestically and internationally for its unique aroma, long slender grains, and soft texture. At Alinda Garden, located in Nong Nam Sai Subdistrict, Sikhio District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, this rice has been cultivated as “Moral Rice” through an organic farming system integrated with a sustainable irrigation model. This initiative is part of the activities led by the Moral Dissemination Unit for Buddhism (MDUB) under the Department of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Thailand, aiming to connect ethical development with agricultural excellence. The harvested rice is used not only for food security but also to support community-based moral education and sharing within the Buddharaksa Community, which is guided by the Buddhist principle of compassion and collective well-being. The project stands as a living model of how organic agriculture, ethical values, and community sharing can be integrated into a holistic framework for sustainable rural development.
