How to stop a gene drive
This living literature review examines emergency countermeasures developed to halt or reverse gene drive activity if intrinsic safeguards fail. It focuses on two main categories: secondary releases of engineered organisms and non-heritable targeted inhibitors. The article assesses the strengths, limitations, and research gaps of each strategy, and includes a visual map of the literature to help track emerging trends and connections across studies. As a living literature review, this article will be updated with new modeling insights and methodologies as they become available.
