Effectiveness of Core Stability Exercises on Pregnancy-Related Low Back Pain: A Literature Review
ABSTRACT Background: Low back pain (LBP) affects up to 70% of pregnant women and significantly impacts their quality of life. This study investigates the efficacy of core stability exercise on low back pain. Core stability exercises have been suggested as a potential intervention to alleviate pain and improve functional ability in pregnant women. Need for Study: Pregnancy-related low back pain can be reduced by a variety of therapeutic activities, according to numerous research. However, there is insufficient data supporting the use of core stability exercises for pregnancy-related pain reduction. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine whether core stability exercises could lessen pregnancy-related back pain. Methodology: Major databases like PubMed, Google Scholar, and ResearchGate were used in thorough search. We examined and analysed studies from 2020 to 2025 that focused on core stability for reducing back pain in pregnancy. 6 studies out of 14 publications met all the requirements and were chosen for additional review. Result: The findings suggest that core stability exercises significantly reduce low back pain and improve functional ability in pregnant women compared to conventional care or no exercise interventions. Improvements in pain relief, posture control, and daily activity performance were observed. Conclusion: The study concluded that core stability exercise can be an effective intervention for reducing low back pain and improving functional ability in pregnant women.
