The Economic and Ecological Value of Blue Carbon Ecosystems: Implications for Climate Finance and Sustainable Development
Abstract: Seagrass meadows, salt marshes, and mangroves are examples of blue carbon ecosystems that are essential for reducing the effects of climate change because they absorb and retain carbon dioxide. Examining these ecosystems' ecological and economic worth, this research emphasizes how they may support sustainable development and climate finance. By looking at how carbon is sequestered in blue carbon ecosystems, we study how well different carbon credit programs encourage the preservation and restoration of these ecosystems. We also study the prospects and problems of blue carbon investing, such as those pertaining to market processes, project design, monitoring, and verification. Keywords: Blue Carbon, Carbon Credits, Coastal Ecosystems
