Advantages and challenges of disruptive innovation: policy analysis development policies in Latin America

This study explores public policies and legal mechanisms in several Latin American countries that can drive development through disruptive innovation. Drawing on theories of disruptive innovation and economic cycles, particularly those of Schumpeter, the research examines documents on innovation indicators and conducts a literature review on the topic. While notable advances have been made in areas such as research and development (R&D) and the adoption of new technologies, systemic barriers still limit the widespread dissemination of these innovations across the region. Also highlights Latin America's significant potential in emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence and biotechnology, emphasizing the importance of more proactive public policies to overcome technological inequalities and foster an entrepreneurial environment. The conclusion is that for Latin America to truly leverage the opportunities offered by disruptive innovation and enter a new cycle of economic prosperity, it is essential to invest in more robust and inclusive national innovation systems.
