Analysis of Construction Management Techniques for Bridge Construction
Abstract: The rapid urbanization and infrastructural development in Sangli City, Maharashtra, have necessitatedthe construction of new bridges to improve connectivity and support economic growth. The proposed Krupamai Bridgemust be strategically planned to overcome the challenges faced by the prolonged construction of the previouslyconstructed Madhavnagar Bridge. Its design should prioritize wider lanes, efficient traffic management, and modernengineering techniques to enhance capacity, durability, and longevity. Emphasizing a faster and more efficientconstruction process will ensure minimal disruption and improved connectivity for commuters and vehiclesThis study explores effective construction management techniques such as Critical Path Method (CPM) for bridgeconstruction projects within this region. It focuses on optimizing project planning, scheduling, and resource allocationto address the unique geographical and environmental challenges presented by the local terrain and river systems.Key strategies include the application of advanced construction technologies, such as prefabrication, pre-cast, andmodular construction, to expedite project timelines and enhance structural integrity. The study also emphasizes theimportance of rigorous safety protocols and risk management practices, ensuring worker safety and minimizingenvironmental impact throughout the construction process. Moreover, this research highlights the critical role of stakeholder communication and collaboration in overcominglogistical challenges and ensuring project success. By analyzing case studies of recent bridge projects in Sangli City– Madhavnagar Railway Bridge, the study provides insights into practices followed and lessons learned, offering aframework for improving construction management techniques in proposed Krupamai Bridge in Sangli.
