Shifting Views of Regional Order In Russian and Turkish Foreign Policy Amid Global Turbulences

Abstract The article explores the evolving regional power dynamics in an emerging multipolar world order, characterized by a ‘new bipolarity’ between a fragmenting West and a rising East, strengthened by renewed Eurasian alliances. In this context, two prominent Eurasian powers, Russia and Turkey, are adjusting their conceptualizations of order. The article argues that the future architecture of relationships in Eurasia will hinge on the capacity of key actors, particularly Turkey and Russia, to balance their competing interests. While both Russia and Turkey share a common anti-Western sentiment, their distinct civilizational projects and regional ambitions inhibit the potential for cohesive collaboration. Consequently, the likelihood of a continual harmonious coexistence remains low. Achieving this coexistence would require resolving fundamental ideational and geopolitical contradictions and addressing the persistent mutual distrust between the nations. Abstract

Abstract The article explores the evolving regional power dynamics in an emerging multipolar world order, characterized by a ‘new bipolarity’ between a fragmenting West and a rising East, strengthened by renewed Eurasian alliances.
