Flame — A Domain-Specific Language for Wildfire Modeling
Flame is a domain-specific programming language (DSL) developed to model wildfire behavior, express operational decision logic, and support environmental risk analysis. Designed for fire analysts, civil protection officers, and researchers, Flame enables real-time rule-based modeling using meteorological indices such as FWI, NDMI, and Haines. The interpreter is written in Python and is fully open-source. Flame supports integration with real-time data sources (e.g., IPMA, SGIFR, FIRMS) and is suited for simulation tools, dashboards, and educational purposes. This whitepaper introduces the motivation, syntax, use cases, and development roadmap of the Flame language.
