AZƏRBAYCAN DİLİNİN ŞİVƏLƏRİ VƏ ÖZBƏK DİLİNDƏ ORTAQ SÖZLƏR
Abstract. Since the early 20th century, the dialects of the Azerbaijani language have been extensively studied using descriptive methods, and many dialectological dictionaries and atlases have been published. There has now arisen a need to investigate the materials specific to the various branches of these dialects using a comparative approach. In this regard, research dedicated to comparing Turkic languages and dialects has become especially pertinent. Since the beginning of the 21st century, significant dissertation works in Azerbaijani linguistics in this area have been undertaken. In the article, the dialects of the Azerbaijani language are compared with the Uzbek language, and common features have been identified. The comparison was carried out at the lexical level, and the common lexicon between the Azerbaijani dialects and the Uzbek language has been determined. This common lexicon mainly consists of ancient Turkic words: ağırramax, bayramnıx, bijəltəx, bijəndər, cəviz, çamır, çin, çim, dam, damad, davar, davarcığ, eşix, eşmax, əfci, qazdanməg, mayıf, nay, naxoş, sığır, kəl, kəndi, küz, yengilməx, in, ini, irağ, ixdiyar, uruğ, etc. In researching the words common to both the Azerbaijani dialects and the Uzbek language, both written and oral sources have been consulted. Wherever applicable, examples have been provided from dialect lexicons, the modern Uzbek language, aşgari’s dictionary, the Book of Dede Qorqud, and the Oguzname.
