We Suffer Without We - Ohne wir leiden wir // What Can We Gain When We Shift from Self to We? / Inwiefern ist Gemeinschaft heilsamer als Selbstoptimierung?
AbstractThis interdisciplinary essay analyzes, among other things, the psychological, neurological, sociological, and cosmological foundations of the concept of the "self" and arrives at a clear conclusion: the ego is not a stable, substantial entity but a neurobiologically generated, culturally shaped, and socially reproduced construct. In nine—partly novel—lines of evidence, ranging from mathematics and biogenetics to psycholinguistics and quantum physics, it is demonstrated that the idea of an autonomous self is neither mathematically, legally, scientifically, nor sociologically tenable. Instead, the "we" is introduced as a central category of human health, belonging, and healing. The treatise advocates for a paradigm shift in psychotherapy, education, media, economy, and politics: away from ego-strengthening, toward a collectively grounded understanding of identity that centers resonance, connectedness, and compassion. “I am because we are.” This essay sees itself as the starting point for a new, scientifically supported culture of togetherness.
