Exploring the Impact of Technology Integration and Traditional Teaching Methods on Mathematics Learning Outcomes: Mixed-Methods Analysis
This study aimed to examine the impact of technology integration and traditional teaching methods on Mathematics learning outcomes among educators in Laak South District, Davao de Oro. Utilizing a convergent parallel mixed-methods design, the study combined quantitative data gathered through a structured Likert-scale survey and qualitative insights obtained via in-depth interviews. A total of 92 teacher-respondents participated. Quantitative findings revealed that both technology integration and traditional teaching methods were moderately implemented, while Mathematics learning outcomes—measured in terms of conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and engagement—were rated very extensive. Results from a Two-Way ANOVA showed that traditional teaching methods significantly influenced learning outcomes (p = .018), and a significant interaction effect (p = .028) was observed between technology integration and traditional methods, underscoring the importance of a blended approach. Qualitative findings further supported the value of combining both instructional strategies while also highlighting challenges such as limited resources, training, and institutional support. Integration of findings revealed that optimal student learning is achieved when traditional pedagogy is complemented with purposeful technology use.
