Belostoma De Carlo 1966
Key to species of the Belostoma fittkaui group Stefanello (2021) reported that the dorsal arms of the phallosoma in B. fittkaui extend to distal portion of diverticulum in dorsal view, which it was a mistake. 1 Broader species (length/width ratio body ~ 2.00); eyes with lateral margins markedly straight; prosternal keel with apex rounded; dorsal arms of phallosoma not extending to distal portion of diverticulum in dorsal view....... Belostoma fittkaui - More elongate species (ratio body length/width ~ 2.25); eyes with lateral margins almost straight; prosternal keel with apex rounded or pointed; dorsal arms of phallosoma extending to distal portion of diverticulum in dorsal view............... 2 2 Prosternal keel with apex pointed; lateral margins of pronotum shallowly concave; dorsal arms of phallosoma convergent apically and diverticulum folded apically forming an apicoventral protuberance.......... Belostoma utiaritiensis sp. nov. - Prosternal keel with apex rounded; lateral margins of pronotum straight; diverticulum of phallosoma not as above........ 3 3 Prosternal keel with similar length from base to apex; article II of labium about 0.58–0.68× length of article III; dorsal arms of phallosoma convergent apically; diverticulum trapezoidal with a poorly developed ventral protuberance in lateral view......................................................................................... Belostoma sayagoi - Prosternal keel broader at the base than apex; article II of labium about 0.76× length of article III; dorsal arms of phallosoma parallel; diverticulum elliptical with a well-developed ventral protuberance in lateral view............... Belostoma zecai
