Device Intelligence at the Edge: Migrating Vendor-Specific Edge Logic to AWS Greengrass and SageMaker Edge Manager

The article discusses in detail how to shift edge intelligence solutions made for different vendors to an AWS IoT structure based on AWS Greengrass v2 and SageMaker Edge Manager. As smart edge computing becomes more widely used in industries, several companies encounter issues with proprietary systems related to inflexibility in deployment, limited view into their models, challenges with connecting them, costly on-premises needs and problems in CI/CD pipelines. The proposal resolves these issues by replacing the old runtime systems with Greengrass v2, deploying MQTT-based reporting to AWS IoT Core and using SageMaker Edge Manager to keep models efficient. With this architecture, companies can improve edge computing at their sites without disrupting their work while also speeding up setup, understanding what happens at the edge and cutting their expenses with IoT devices.
