Christian Counselling as a Response to Moral Decline in Contemporary Nigerian Society
The issues of Morality and Morality appear to be centred on debates in contemporary Nigerian society today. The Religious and academic fields are agents of influence that champion such debates and discussions. This is probably because of the empirical evidence of the decline in moral behaviour and character of members of the society. Morality plays a significant role in mutual relationship among members of society. Morality takes priority over self-interest, guiding character, and behaviour by ensuring adherence to basic duties and obligations. But it is surprising how most members of contemporary Nigerian society neglect such caution of Morality, embrace self-centredness, pursue self-interest, and jeopardize communal value. This paper explores the role of Christian counselling as a response to the moral decline in contemporary Nigerian society. The study examines the factors contributing to this decline and argues that Christian counselling offers a unique approach to addressing moral challenges. The paper highlights the importance of integrating Christian values and principles into counselling practices to promote moral renewal and restoration in Nigerian society. Ultimately, this paper aims to shed light on the potential of Christian counselling as a viable solution to the moral crisis facing modern Nigerian society.
