Bio-Quantum Fusion Sensor: A Cry4-Graphene Magneto-Chemistry Patch for Real-Time Edge Diagnostics in Tokamak Plasmas

Runaway-electron events in magnetic-confinement fusion are triggered by nT edge-field jitter coinciding with radical-burst surface chemistry. Conventional Hall probes or IR cameras cannot co-resolve magnetic perturbations and reactive-oxygen species (ROS) at sub-millisecond scales. We present the Bio-Quantum Fusion Sensor (BQFS)—a multilayer Cry4-graphene patch only 80 nm thick that detects ΔB≥5 nT and ROS concentration change ≥50 ppm at 10 kHz. The readout leverages Faraday-rotation magneto-optics in Bi:YIG waveguides and graphene Dirac-point conductance shifts induced by Cry4 radical-pair spin states. Thermal and neutron survivability are enhanced via a Bi₂Te₃ thermoelectric vapor-arc cooler and self-healing Dirac-Klein coating. A coupled reinforcement-learning (RL) controller consumes BQFS streams to cut unplanned quenches by 30% in simulation. We outline a 2027-28 linear-plasma pilot and provide open CAD, firmware and analysis notebooks.

Abstract

Runaway-electron events in magnetic-confinement fusion are triggered by nT edge-field jitter coinciding with radical-burst surface chemistry. Conventional Hall probes or IR cameras cannot co-resolve magnetic perturbations and reactive-oxygen species (ROS) at sub-millisecond scales. We present the Bio-Quantum Fusion Sensor (BQFS)—a multilayer Cry4-graphene patch only 80 nm thick that detects ΔB≥5 nT and ROS concentration change ≥50 ppm at 10 kHz. The readout leverages Faraday-rotation magneto-optics in Bi:YIG waveguides and graphene Dirac-point conductance shifts induced by Cry4 radical-pair spin states. Thermal and neutron survivability are enhanced via a Bi₂Te₃ thermoelectric vapor-arc cooler and self-healing Dirac-Klein coating. A coupled reinforcement-learning (RL) controller consumes BQFS streams to cut unplanned quenches by 30% in simulation. We outline a 2027-28 linear-plasma pilot and provide open CAD, firmware and analysis notebooks.
