The Impact of Comfort Room Cleanliness on the Academic Engagement of Senior High School Students in Las Piñas City National Senior High School - Doña Josefa Campus
This study examines the impact of comfort room cleanliness on the academic engagement of senior high school students at Las Piñas City National Senior High School Doña Josefa Campus. Using a descriptive-correlational research design, the study collected data from 307 senior high school students across various academic strands through a researcher-made survey questionnaire. The results indicate that students predominantly perceive the comfort rooms as dirty, citing poor maintenance, lack of hygiene products, and foul odors as key issues. Although students believe that clean restrooms contribute to their comfort, focus, and overall well-being, no direct relationship was found between comfort room cleanliness and overall academic engagement. However, student satisfaction, concentration, and health were positively associated with cleanliness, suggesting that clean comfort rooms indirectly support a positive learning environment. The study recommends establishing school policies for regular cleaning, running hygiene awareness campaigns, providing sanitation supplies, and involving students in clean-up activities. For future research, it is suggested to explore how academic participation might influence these efforts and to employ qualitative methods for a deeper understanding of these factors
