THE INTEGRATION OF GOOD CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY STRATEGIES TO ADVANCE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
This paper proposes and validates a novel framework for integrating good corporate governance (GCG) practices with corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategies aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Using Uzbekistan as a case study, where CSR remains largely philanthropic and fragmented, we conceptualize a CSR Strategy Rating Index (CSRI) to measure the alignment of governance structures with SDG-driven impact. We find that companies with strategic, SDG-linked CSR initiatives show stronger investor confidence and higher firm valuation (Tobin’s Q). The findings offer a governance roadmap for emerging market firms to enhance legitimacy, reputation, and sustainable performance.
