Personality Analysis of Major Characters in the novel In The Woods by Tana French through Myers - Briggs type indicator
Abstract: Personality is a specific characteristic of a person that refers to the combination of his qualities like thinking, feeling, and the way of behaving that regulates his activities in the environment he is exposed to. Personality varies from person to person, with unique patterns based on biological and environmental influences. The function of personality is to embrace one's ideas and attitude, significantly influencing one's actions. The result of an action, either good or bad, is the response to certain personality characteristics. Several studies on personality have been conducted to define and study its varied qualities. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a popular framework proposed by Katherine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers for determining an individual's personality through introspection. The MBTI indicator is divided into four groups, each with two opposing cognitive functions influencing personality. By analysing each cognitive function of the individual, the ultimate result of the personality type to which an individual belongs is perceived. This paper prefigures the personality analysis through the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator for the major characters of the novel In the Woods by Tana French.
