Ayurveda's Approach Towards Preventing Lifestyle Disorders and Maintaining Social Health
Abstract - Ayurveda is the traditional Indian medical system that emphasizes a natural, all- encompassing approach to maintain good physical and mental health. It is a living science that places more emphasis on restoring an individual's health than treating illnesses. Lifestyle diseases are those that are mostly caused by an individual's everyday activities and results from an inappropriate relationship between the individual and their environment. As per WHO, six million lives are lost due to lifestyle diseases in India every year. Ayurveda offers a variety of treatment procedures for lifestyle diseases, including Panchakarma, Ritucharya, Dincharya, and Rasayana therapies. This review explores the principles of Ritucharya and Dincharya in getting rid of lifestyle-related diseases. Human beings are part of the immediate environment, and their bodies are significantly influenced by the external environment. Ritucharya helps people to deal with the physical and psychological effects of seasonal changes without altering body homeostasis. Ayurveda prescribes the individual to have a good lifestyle and dietary regimen as per the concept of Ritucharya and its practice strengthens our body and mind to withstand any seasonal adversities and can stop the onset of the disease as well as its exacerbation. On the other hand, Dinacharya's principles are especially pertinent in our day-to-day life, where people lead fast-paced lives and are in a hurry. The majority of lifestyle-related disorders have evolved as a result of neglecting their healthy food and routine. Dinacharya contains recommendations that must be adhered on daily basis to restore equilibrium to a person's constitution such as Dosha, Dhatu, Mala, and Agni. When adhered correctly, it helps in the regulation of the biological clock and promotes lifespan, discipline, calm, and happiness as well as helping in digestion, absorption, and assimilation. The preventive, curative, and promotive elements of Ayurveda such as Sadvritta and Achar Rasayan describe and explain the term social health. Social health often deals with the way people interact High Technology Letters Volume 31, Issue 2, 2025 ISSN NO : 1006-6748 377 http://www.gjstx-e.cn/ with one another, socialise with society and establish healthy relationships. Social health is frequently seen as having a significant impact on individuals' health and social interaction assists in maintaining other facets of human health wellness.
