Beyond the Textbook: A Quantitative Study of English XP Integration and English Major Students' Behavioral Engagement Patterns

This quantitative study investigates the impact of EnglishXP on English Major students' behavioral patterns of engagement. Utilizing a control group design, the research aims to compare student engagement without and with English XP integration in English classroom. The Behavioral Engagement are measured through the use of (BERI) Protocol and serve as the primary observational instrument to quantify observable behaviors. Building upon existing literature that highlights the motivational and communicative benefits of RPGs in language learning, this study seeks to provide empirical evidence on how English XP specifically alters observable engagement patterns in a university setting. Findings shows that a significant increase in engagement behaviors within the English XP-integrated group, offering valuable insights for English language pedagogy and curriculum design.
