Contribution of Vedic Mathematics in Indian Knowledge System
The Indian Knowledge System (IKS) represents a vast and diverse intellectual tradition encompassingphilosophy, science, mathematics, medicine, and linguistics. Among its significant contributions, VedicMathematics stands out as an ancient yet highly efficient mathematical system derived from Vedictexts. This paper explores the foundations of Vedic Mathematics, primarily attributed to the work ofSwami Bharati Krishna Tirtha, who reconstructed its 16 Sutras (formulas) and 13 sub-Sutras. Thesemethods offer simplified and faster approaches to arithmetic operations, algebra, geometry, andcalculus, making them relevant for contemporary education and computational applications. The paperalso highlights the interdisciplinary connections between IKS and modern scientific thought, emphasizing the potential of Vedic Mathematics in improving problem-solving skills, cognitivedevelopment, and mathematical pedagogy. By integrating these ancient techniques with modernlearning frameworks, Vedic Mathematics can contribute significantly to global mathematical educationand research.
