Hil-Based Validation of Body Control Module (BCM) and Instrument Cluster (IC) for Vehicle Functional Testing
In modern automotive systems, Electronic Control Units (ECUs) such as the BodyControl Module (BCM) and Instrument Cluster (IC) play a vital role in vehiclefunctionality and driver interaction. This paper presents a Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL)simulation framework designed to validate the functional behavior of these componentsunder dynamic driving conditions. Using TS Master as the simulation platform andArduino Mega 2560 for peripheral interfacing, a cost-effective and scalable test bench wasdeveloped. Real-time inputs such as door status, lighting conditions, speed, and fuel levelwere emulated and monitored over a CAN bus network. The BCM was programmed totransmit signals to the IC, enabling visualization of vehicle parameters on a simulateddashboard. Functional tests including turn indication, door ajar detection, low fuel alerts, and over-speed warnings were conducted to verify system accuracy. This workdemonstrates how HIL testing enhances validation efficiency, reduces prototype costs, andenables early detection of faults in safety-critical automotive subsystems
