Mindful Escape Tourism – Concept Paper
This concept paper introduces and defines the term “Mindful Escape Tourism”, a new approach to tourism based on digital disconnection, mindfulness, and sustainability. The model combines principles of slow travel, mental well-being, and authentic cultural engagement. The paper proposes a structured framework for implementing this type of tourism in rural, urban, and community-based environments. The author, Maria Athanasopoulou – Freelance Tourism Consultant (Greece), presents herself as the original creator of the concept and provides the first formal documentation of “Mindful Escape Tourism” for academic and practical use.
