Smart Irrigation: An IoT and Cloud-Based Automated Water Management System
Abstract: This paper reports the development of Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud-based irrigation system. The Internet of Things (IoT)-based irrigation system is an innovative approach to modern agriculture, designed to enhance water conservation and crop yield while limiting human involvement. Our developed system integrates IoT sensors, microcontrollers (NodeMCU:EPS32), and cloud computing to monitor and control soil moisture levels, temperature, and weather conditions in real time. The sensors collect data from the field, which is transmitted to a mobile based application for further action. Based on predefined thresholds, the system can automatically activate irrigation, ensuring optimal water distribution. Additionally, farmers can remotely access system data via mobile applications or web interfaces, enabling real-time decision-making. This technology not only conserves water but also reduces labour costs and improves agricultural productivity. The IoT-based irrigation system represents a sustainable and intelligent solution for precision farming, addressing challenges related to climate change and resource management
