When Uniformity Can Be the Threat: Why AI Ought to Respect the Power of Human Variation
This article explores an emerging concern in the era of artificial intelligence: the silent erosion of human variation. While AI is widely celebrated for its ability to generate consistent and accurate outputs across domains, this uniformity may become a threat in areas where diversity is essential — such as culture, creativity, ethics, and personalized learning. I argue for the creation of “Reserved Zones” where AI should be applied with caution, collaboration, and cultural sensitivity. This piece invites researchers, technologists, and policymakers to rethink AI's boundaries — not in fear, but in defense of human uniqueness.
