Low-Carbon CSA-Belite Cement System with Integrated CO₂ Mineralization and Self-Healing Capability

his document presents an independently developed concept for a low-carbon cement system using calcium sulfoaluminate (CSA) and belite chemistry. The system integrates industrial waste materials, low-temperature clinkerization, electric or conventional kiln processes, and direct CO₂ mineralization to significantly reduce emissions compared to ordinary Portland cement. It also incorporates a self-healing mechanism inspired by ancient Roman concrete, utilizing calcium-rich mineral additives and carbonation chemistry to extend material lifespan. The proposal is based on a synthesis of academic research, thermodynamic and chemical modeling, and AI-assisted reasoning tools. Shared for public benefit and collaboration, this work is intended to support further research, lab testing, or pilot-scale implementation in sustainable construction and carbon capture strategies.

Abstract

his document presents an independently developed concept for a low-carbon cement system using calcium sulfoaluminate (CSA) and belite chemistry. The system integrates industrial waste materials, low-temperature clinkerization, electric or conventional kiln processes, and direct CO₂ mineralization to significantly reduce emissions compared to ordinary Portland cement. It also incorporates a self-healing mechanism inspired by ancient Roman concrete, utilizing calcium-rich mineral additives and carbonation chemistry to extend material lifespan.
