Prophylactics of heart and society effects in patients with diabetes mellitus

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the leading risk factors for the development of cardiovascular diseases (CVD), which significantly worsens the prognosis and quality of life of patients. Prevention of cardiovascular complications in patients with diabetes includes a set of measures aimed at reducing blood glucose levels, normalising blood pressure, improving lipid metabolism and preventing microvascular disorders. Important aspects are early diagnosis, regular health monitoring, and the use of pharmacotherapy such as angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, statins and other drugs. Lifestyle changes, including dietary modification, physical activity, smoking cessation and weight control, are equally important. Teaching patients to self-monitor, informing them about risks and the importance of adherence to recommendations also play a key role in preventing complications. Timely diagnosis and prevention of cardiovascular diseases can significantly reduce mortality and morbidity in patients with diabetes.
