A Diffusion-Surface Tension Model for the Expansion of the Universe

We propose a novel mechanism for cosmic acceleration based on quantum-field-induced surface tension at the boundary of the universe. The model posits that tension (σ) between spacetime and the quantum vacuum grows exponentially with the surface area (A(t)), generating a negative pressure that drives accelerated expansion. Unlike the cosmological constant, this approach dynamically links acceleration to the universe's geometry and predicts testable deviations from ΛCDM at late times.

Abstract

We propose a novel mechanism for cosmic acceleration based on quantum-field-induced surface tension at the boundary of the universe. The model posits that tension (σ) between spacetime and the quantum vacuum grows exponentially with the surface area (A(t)), generating a negative pressure that drives accelerated expansion. Unlike the cosmological constant, this approach dynamically links acceleration to the universe's geometry and predicts testable deviations from ΛCDM at late times.
