Abstract This paper aims to explore the startup ecosystem of Maharashtra. A Startup is a company designed to develop a scalable business model through new ideas in products or services (Blank, 2010). A regional startup ecosystem impacts the sustainability and success of Startups. A Startup ecosystem is a network of resources, including people, investors, institutions, and enterprises, that collaborate to create an environment where startups can succeed. This study uses a startup ecosystem analysis for Maharashtra State to assess employment creation and new startup development. Secondary data from 2019 to 2023, released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, will be used to gain insights into the research paper. The data analysis results show a significant relationship between number of startups and employment creation. The analysis reveals that the startup ecosystem has contributed to a 32% annual growth in employment creation, with an average of 30% startup growth in Maharashtra over the last five years. Currently, the Maharashtra Startup ecosystem has 26589 startups with 119 incubatees, and a network of 16 startup incubation centers across the state to promote the state's entrepreneurial talent. This research will help startups better understand the Maharashtra state startup ecosystem and provide a deep dive into the predictable future of startups in Maharashtra.
