Co-Creating Science in Rural Communities

This document accompanies the visual presentation of the work “Seedling Science Engagement in Rural Areas through European Researchers' Night”, presented at PCST 2025, during Parallel Session A:8. The presentation showcases the Rural European Researchers’ Night (RERN) held in Armamar, a rural village in northern Portugal, highlighting key strategies, outcomes, and lessons learned from a community-led science engagement model. Drawing on collaborative efforts between schools, local institutions, and national academic partners, the initiative reflects a replicable and inclusive approach to place-based science communication. This contribution is part of the broader work developed by ARMA-Sci – Rede de Promoção do Capital Científico de Armamar, in collaboration with multiple national and international institutions, including the Municipality of Armamar and the Gomes Teixeira School Cluster - Agrupamento de Escolas Gomes Teixeira (Armamar). The 2023 edition of RERN was developed under the umbrella of the SCIEVER consortium, and the 2024 edition is being organised within the SCIGLO consortium.
