GROUNDNUT DISEASES AND MANAGEMENT
Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is an important oilseed and legume crop cultivated worldwide. However, its production is often hampered by various fungal, bacterial and viral diseases, causing significant yield losses. This study examines the major diseases affecting groundnut, including stem rot, collar rot, late leaf spot, rust and bacterial wilt. It also explores different disease management strategies, focusing on cultural, biological, chemical, and integrated disease management (IDM) approaches. The findings suggest that an IDM approach combining resistant varieties, biocontrol agents and judicious fungicide application can effectively reduce disease incidence and enhance productivity.
