A Simple Experimental Proposal for Testing the Constancy of the Fine-Structure Constant
This article proposes a simple, low-cost experimental setup to test the hypothesis that the fine-structure constant (α) may vary under different gravitational conditions. The method avoids direct measurement of the elementary charge and instead uses the relative behavior of electrostatically repelling charges in a symmetric mechanical system. The result could provide new insight into whether α is a truly fundamental constant or a parameter influenced by the structure of the surrounding environment. I made some minor corrections to the text, as there were errors in the wording of the experiment. Voltage was used instead of charge, which is incorrect. There is also an explanation of why the experiment should still produce results, even considering that the elastic forces of the spring are also the result of electrostatic forces.
