This article explores the role and impact of Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) in the tribal region of Sagbara Taluka, located in the Narmada District of Gujarat. As part of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme, Anganwadi Centres are vital institutions delivering essential services such as nutrition, early childhood education, and maternal healthcare in underdeveloped areas. The study discusses the socio-economic and geographical challenges unique to Sagbara Taluka and highlights how AWCs address these challenges by supporting tribal children and women through localized interventions. It also examines the current status of AWCs in the region, the multifaceted challenges they face—including inadequate infrastructure, irregular supply chains, and community awareness gaps—and their transformative role in promoting tribal welfare.
