INTEGRATION OF FUZZY LOGIC IN SCADA SYSTEMS FOR ENHANCED ALARM MANAGEMENT IN PIPELINE MONITORING

Abstract Integrating fuzzy logic algorithms into existing SCADA systems can improve pipeline efficiency, reliability, and safety by handling uncertainties and variations in pipeline conditions. Customized fuzzy logic control strategies can optimize pipeline performance, reduce risks, and minimize downtime. This approach has implications for the design of advanced control systems in industrial settings, paving the way for more intelligent and responsive solutions. Our proposed approach optimizes the alarm flow, allowing operators to focus on critical events by reducing the rate of irrelevant or repetitive alarms. Experimental results on real- world SCADA event logs from pipeline operations demonstrate that our methodology can effectively lower alarm rates while maintaining awareness of essential operational conditions. This research contributes a practical and data-driven solution to the challenge of alarm overload in pipeline SCADA systems, with implications for improved safety, efficiency, and operator performance.
