A SYSTEM OF EXERCISES FOR DEVELOPING LEADERSHIP SKILLS IN PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS OF THE NEW UKRAINIAN SCHOOL WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE LESSONS

Abstract The article presents a system of exercises aimed at developing leadership skills in primary school students during English lessons, aligned with the New Ukrainian School concept. The theoretical foundation of the system integrates competency-based, activity-oriented, and socio-interactive approaches, supported by principles of individualization, emotional intelligence, and reflection. The importance of learning through action is emphasized as a key strategy for promoting student engagement and language fluency in authentic contexts. The system includes a variety of methods such as role-playing, dramatization, project-based learning, Total Physical Response, debates, and digital tools. These approaches aim to enhance communication, critical thinking, initiative, and teamwork among young learners. The article highlights the value of exercises that foster both linguistic and leadership competencies, contributing to holistic personality development. The system has the potential to enrich foreign language instruction in primary education. The need for further empirical validation of its impact on students’ leadership behaviour and motivation is also identified.
