The Dual-Faced Self: A Cognitive Approach to Consciousness and Intention within the Unified Dynamic Model of the Mind (UDMM)
Abstract This paper introduces a metaphorical framework for understanding human consciousness through the concept of "the dual-faced self," extending the Unified Dynamic Model of the Mind (UDMM). In this model, the human being is conceived as a dual-perspective entity: an outward-facing embodiment interacting with the environment, and an inward-facing dynamic model capable of simulation, prediction, and internal evaluation. The paper explores how consciousness, intention, and selfhood emerge from the interaction between these two dimensions, offering a foundation for understanding internal conflict, emotional evaluation, and unified decision-making.
