Fuzzy Logic-Based Path Planning for Autonomous Mobile Robots

This paper presents the design of a fuzzy logic-based path planning system for autonomous mobile robots. A kinematic model of a differential drive robot is developed using MATLAB®, and fuzzy logic control is integrated to enable autonomous navigation within static environments. The system utilizes wavefront algorithms and real-time sensor feedback to generate safe and efficient paths, with simulation results confirming performance under various conditions. This approach emphasizes the benefits of combining fuzzy control with intelligent planning for enhanced robot autonomy. Published in the Proceedings of TIEES-2024.

Abstract

This paper presents the design of a fuzzy logic-based path planning system for autonomous mobile robots. A kinematic model of a differential drive robot is developed using MATLAB®, and fuzzy logic control is integrated to enable autonomous navigation within static environments. The system utilizes wavefront algorithms and real-time sensor feedback to generate safe and efficient paths, with simulation results confirming performance under various conditions. This approach emphasizes the benefits of combining fuzzy control with intelligent planning for enhanced robot autonomy. Published in the Proceedings of TIEES-2024.
