TRIBOFILAMENT PRINTING CHALLENGES: ANALYZING DEFECTS IN ADDITIVE MANUFACTURED TEXTURED PARTS AND SURFACES

: Additive manufacturing using tribofilaments is an emerging technology in the field of FDM additive manufacturing, having a significant impact on the parts and textured surfaces building with performances intended to improve the tribological response of these mechanical elements that come into contact in various customized industrial applications. The use of this special category of materials together with this manufacturing method, however, faces a series of challenges, especially regarding the possible defects that may appear during the additive manufacturing process that directly influence the quality of the printed parts. This study aims to analyze the different types of defects that can appear in textured parts manufactured by using FDM technology, highlighting the factors that influence their quality, such as printing parameters, the material layer deposition and environmental conditions. Potential solutions for the prevention and optimization of these defects are also explored, to improve the performance of manufactured mechanical elements
