Recent Trends In Excavation Of Dental Caries – A Overview Article
Caries excavation involves the removal of decayed dental tissue to halt the disease process and preservetooth structure. Current approaches include conventional mechanical methods, chemomechanical agents, and minimally invasive techniques. The traditional mechanical approach, using rotary instruments likeburs, is effective but may lead to unnecessary removal of healthy tissue and patient discomfort.Alternatively, chemomechanical methods use agents such as Carisolv to selectively dissolve infected dentin, offering a gentler technique. Minimally invasive approaches, like laser-assisted excavation and air abrasion, aim to preserve healthy tissue and enhance patient comfort.
