Restoring the Power and Purpose of HR in Global Corporate Systems
This research paper, authored by Megh Singh, critically examines the declining power and structural relevance of Human Resource (HR) departments in global corporate systems. Drawing from the author's lived experiences across training and associate roles, the paper explores how operational dominance often renders HR powerless, leading to favoritism, employee exploitation, and compromised workplace ethics. Through real-world observations and comparative analysis with HR practices in countries like Germany and Canada, the study calls for urgent structural reforms to restore HR's independence. It advocates for HR reporting directly to leadership, stronger hiring standards, legal literacy, and ethical grievance redressal mechanisms. This paper is a heartfelt call to rebuild fair, just, and human-centered organizations where HR is not sidelined but empowered as a strategic guardian of people and culture.
