Natural Self-Purification of Flowing Rivers: Investigating the Unseen Filtration Mechanisms in Rural and Hilly Settlements
This research paper explores how rivers flowing through multiple villages in hilly regions remain clean despite repeated human use. It investigates natural self-purification mechanisms like soil filtration, biofilms, aeration, and mineral leaching. A case study from the Parvathipuram region supports these findings. The study highlights the importance of preserving river ecosystems for sustainable water use. It concludes that nature has its own filtration system that rural practices can align with responsibly.
