AbstractIn the art of drama, the traditional drama arts of Eelam such as Sindhunadai Koothugal, Vasappu, Isai Natakam, Pallu, Kuravanji, Vasanthan, Makudi, Karagam, Kavadi have a diverse and long history and development. Some of these have been affected by modern social influences and have disappeared. Beyond that, there are those who have survived by swimming against the tide of time. The Sinhala cultural mixtures that have occurred over time and the political, economic and social factors that have emerged as a result, and the relationship mixtures formed by Westerners, are the basis for these changes. These various trends and forms have their own unique aesthetic, structure and expressive abilities. In general, the traditional teachers of Eelam have paid attention to the unique characteristics of these drama arts, the role played by politics, society and culture, and the culture and its processes. In that regard, Dr. Kalamani also deserves a mention. He has a special place in the Eelam literary tradition. It is necessary to pay attention to his plays and Annavidhana (directing) in the Tamil drama research world. Therefore, this article titled “Dr. Thambi Aiya Kalamani’s ‘Tharisu’ Four Types of Drama and Dramatic Art” aims to present his literary and dramatic work to the Tamil world.
