Supplementary R scripts for "Host Evaluation: Reliance on Symbionts (HERS): a new metric for quantifying nutrient exchange in nutritional mutualisms"

This repository contains the R scripts developed for the publication "Host Evaluation: Reliance on Symbionts (HERS): a new metric for quantifying nutrient exchange in nutritional mutualisms" - Methods in Ecology and Evolution. Supplementary material - Script to run HERS - Leonard Pons & Inga Conti-Jerpe: provides scripts to quickly calculate HERS for one or multiple holobionts. Supplementary material - SIBER & HERS tests - Leonard Pons & Inga Conti-Jerpe: displays the code (and thought process) for the different analyses presented in the manuscript. It notably contains (i) parameters choices for SIBER, (ii) the 3D representation of different ellipse sizes, (iii) the 3D figures of all potential HERS values, (iv) the script to determine the best combination of ellipse sizes, (v) the HERS stability tests and (vi) the script to compute other stable isotopes metrics. Most scripts only rely on synthetic datasets which can be generated from the R files. Some tests also use an empirical dataset first published in "Trophic strategy and bleaching resistance in reef-building corals" by Conti-Jerpe et al, in 2020 (DOI: 10.1126/sciadv.aaz544).
