Plasma rico en plaquetas autólogo en la resutura de heridas quirúrgicas complicadas: reporte de tres casos

Complicated surgical wounds (CSW) can lead to morbidity and mortality when seroma, hematoma, infection and dehiscence are observed, which contribute to a long hospital stay. Currently, non-conventional therapies that are complementary to this type of surgical site infection (SSI) are being managed; autologous Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) has been used at the time of resuturing CSWs. The literature suggests that PRP can enhance wound healing by promoting re-epithelization and closure of the open wound. This case study demonstrated the efficacy of autologous PRP in the resuturing of CSWs. In the first two cases, the surgical site infection (SSI) occurred following hysterectomy, with wound secretion cultures positive for Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella spp, respectively. Three sessions of autologous PRP were applied, at the time of resuture, then again at 7 and 15 days. In addition, fibrin membrane was applied for a partial dehiscence at one end of the inferior suprapubic angle (2 x 8 x 10 cm) in case 2. Case 3 involved a cesarean section, subsequently a supra-aponeurotic hematoma was observed, after resuture seroma was evidenced. Patients exhibited good wound healing evolution, without complications when autologous PRP and fibrin membranes were applied. The results demonstrated that PRP contributed to rapid healing in tissue regeneration, highlighting its potential as an accessible, cost-effective, and easy-to-apply therapeutic option
