THE STUDY OF THE TOXICOGENIC PROPERTIES OF FUNGI AND THEIR POTENTIAL USE IN THE VEGETABLE OIL INDUSTRY

Abstract The toxicogenic species of fungi have been known since ancient times, but the toxins they synthesize began to be studied only in the 1960s. This is explained by the fact that their main pathogenicity factor causing epiphytotics is precisely related to toxins. In general, toxicogenic fungi constitute a broad and heterogeneous group of microscopic fungi that differ in morphological characteristics, nutritional and reproductive abilities, life cycle, and effects on living organisms. The primary sources of mass spread and contamination of toxic fungi are infected substrates, products, raw materials, and feed. This review explores the toxicogenic properties of fungi and their potential use in the vegetable oil industry.
