On the Use of Usage Statistics
A (critical) update and discussion of work happening on usage statistics / metrics for open access books within the Copim community and beyond, with a brief summary on recent discussions between OAPEN/DOAB, Thoth Open Metadata, Michigan Publishing/Fulcrum, and the OPERAS Metrics service to foster uptake of a community-led, open alternative to metrics for OA books. This presentation was held by Rupert Gatti in the context of the Open Book Collective's Quarterly Community Forum, which took place on May 12, 2025, with the intention to spark discussions between the Open Book Collective's groups of stakeholders (libraries, publishers, and service providers).
